MONOTYPES

SOLITARY PROFOUND SUBLIME

The burden bestowed upon an art critic in writing about a particular artist that he has known for a long time is overwhelming and unbearable. In the first place it is very difficult to knit the various stages that the artist has gone through, secondly it is almost impossible to recall the personal experiences and vicissitudes that have induced the artist to produce his work.

In the many years that I have known Petros I have attempted to keep abreast with his artistic explorations (from sculpture to monotypes) and very often I have found it somewhat difficult navigating in the wake of his perilous, seafaring, artistic voyages. However, in these journeys I have noticed progressive improvement in the many facets of his artistic endeavours, I must confess that he has taken giant strides in the realm of art making. But there is one aspect that has remained unchanged in his work, and this to me is the essence of his artistic expression and his existential dimension. Petros to me remains solitary, profound, sublime.
